Austin, Texas (March 18th, 2007) - Hard rock artist POWDERBURN is pleased to announce that the band has won Best Metal Band in their native Austin's annual Music Awards event for the fourth time.

The Austin Music Awards are held every year on March 15th, to coincide with the start of the world-famous South By Southwest Festival, a four-day event that brings bands, industry people, filmmakers, and thousands of fans from all corners of the world into Austin to celebrate music, art, and films of every genre.

With so much focus on out-of-town bands during South By Southwest, the Austin Music Awards are Austin's way of putting the spotlight on native bands, and POWDERBURN was in the spotlight again, accepting the first award of the night for Best Metal Band. "The award is given out solely based on fan voting through the Austin Chronicle," says drummer Patrick Swift, "which makes it that much better to have won four times now. We love our fans, and they support us right back. It's just amazing."

POWDERBURN accepted their award and had to immediately leave the festivites to make it to their show at the Heart of Texas Quadrupule Bypass stage at Spill Bar.

Video of POWDERBURN accepting their award and briefly hanging out in the backstage area is available at YouTube.com, following this link.
