Powderburn's Final Show

Powderburn to play final show of year

(Austin, Texas - December 10th)

After a long, intense year of recording, playing on shows like the Mayhem Tour, and incorporating a new lead guitarist, Austin-based POWDERBURN is preparing to wind down for the holidays and take a well-deserved break. However, because POWDERBURN knows there's no fans like their Austin fans, the band is setting up one final show for the hometown crowd.

The time and place for the last throwdown of '08 is December 20th, at the renowned Austin venue Emo's. So grab some friends and join the band for one last huge party . . . that is, before the one last huge party on New Year's Eve. Due to the fact that no member of Powderburn intends on being able to even stand upright on New Year's Eve, this is your last shot to party with the band and hear some great music.

Joining POWDERBURN for this end of year event are local favorites Deejer and One-Eyed Doll, two very different bands that nevertheless offer a great live show and serious melody and songwriting. "One of my favorite things about this show is who we're playing with", says drummer Patrick Swift, "Both bands are good friends of ours who we haven't really done shows with before, and I think they blend well with what we do. Prepare to be pleasantly surprised." Another band who mixes well and puts on a live show is Houston's own Lonestar Pornstar, who will also be playing with POWDERBURN for the first time.

As this is the final show for 2008, the band has planned some serious surprises, and believe that it will be worth your time to come and see just what they have in store for the end of the year.

The doors open at 8 PM, and it's worth your while to get there early. POWDERBURN and the other bands have prepared a little Christmas surprise for the first 100 people to come in the door, so do your makeup in the car on the way, and hit the drive-thru on your way down to Emo's. See you there!

Powderburn to headline Dimefest in Houston

Powderburn to headline Dimefest in Houston

December is the month for not only buying presents for friends and family, but for taking a good look around and seeing what you can do for people in need during the holiday times. Austin-based metal band Powderburn is getting in the Santa spirit as they headline the 2nd annual event in Houston, Texas, which will be now and forever dubbed "Dimefest". This year's event will be this Saturday,December 13th, at the rock club FBI # 1.

"Dimefest" was chosen as the name for this event for two simple reason - it's ten cents to get in the door, and a cup of beer will cost you ten cents. The bands are donating their time and music, and the four kegs of beer have been donated by the venue.

Another connotation of the name is the universal love in the metal community for the legend known as Dimebag Darrell. What many people may not know is that he was into the giving spirit as well, as he worked with an amazing charity called Little Kids Rock. Little Kids Rock donates brand-new instruments to public schools, so today's kids can turn into tomorrow's concert violinists, Broadway pit performers, or maybe even rock stars. The list of other performers who have worked with LKR goes on and on, including Jason Newstead, Paul Simon, Neil Peart, Joe Satriani, Ringo Starr and Brad Delson of Linkin Park.

Ken Lockman, singer of Powderburn, states: "Being so close to the holidays, Powderburn felt it was good timing to do something for the kids. In this kind of situation, everyone wins - A good show, unbelievably cheap beer, and knowing you did something good for the kids, too!"

In Dime's honor, all the proceeds of the night will be donated to Little Kids Rock, with the blessings of all the bands involved. A local business, Destin Drywall and Paint, has also donated a Dimebag-style Dean Razorback Guitar, which will be raffled off and the proceeds given to Little Kids Rock.

The show starts at 7 PM, and joining Powderburn on the stage will be the following bands" Sounds of a Solemn Mind, Cavernous, Face Meets Pavement, Epic, Aerial Second, and Nocturnal Madness.

So if you're feeling the Christmas spirit, come out to FBI this weekend and have a good time for very cheap, and put an instrument in the hands of a kid who may just be the next Slash, Jason Newstead, or Joey Jordison! As Powderburn's bassist Greg Enkler says: "It's Dimefest, so at these prices you can't blame the recession - see you there!"

FBI #1 is on 11528 Jones Road in Houston, TX 77070, and the phone is (281) 807-4116.

Powderburn invited to play Alamo Drafthouse after party in Austin

The MONSTER ROCK Sing-Along
(Article from: www.originalalamo.com)

Rated Unknown
Location:
Alamo Downtown

This show is a part of the Sing-Along Extravaganzas Signature Series, Click to See More

We've celebrated hair metal before, in our annual LOVE BITES Power Ballad Sing-
Alongs, but sometimes you want to do more than slow dance. Sometimes, you want
to ROCK. And this summer, that's exactly what we're fucking gonna do. We're not
gonna take it anymore, because god gave rock and roll to us and now we're going
to shake you all night long. So yeah, we've got the big hair and bigger make up
of Twisted Sister and KISS. We've got the spandex of Van Halen and Poison. And
we'll bring back more favorites from the Love Bites show, too, because "November
Rain" isn't the only song by Guns 'N Roses. Oh, and AC/DC. Lots and lots of
AC/DC. Plus, even though we've already used this gimmick for the BILL & TED
QUOTE-ALONG, we'll be giving everyone their very own inflatable guitar when they
sit down, just so we can all have something to smash against the stage when
we're too overcome by the power of our own mystical rocking.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. This Thursday, June 19, the rocking will continue with a
free show at the Beast House, just two blocks down 6th Street from the Ritz,
with the official Monster Rock After Party, featuring DJ Jefe spinning rock and
metal, and live rock with Thunderose and Powderburn.

Kid Policy: 18 and up; Children 6 and up will be allowed only
with a parent or guardian. No children under the age of 6 will be allowed.

POWDERBURN TO PLAY MULTIPLE SHOWS ON JAGERMEISTER TOUR

(May 27th, 2008 - Austin, TX) The month of May typically means one thing to Austin, Texas-based metal band POWDERBURN - the time has come once again for the spring edition of the JAGERMEISTER MUSIC TOUR. The band is fortunate to have a sponsorship from the hallowed beverage of choice for metalheads everywhere, and JAGER is bringing the metal to Texas yet again.

POWDERBURN is pleased to announce that the band has two dates on this year's JAGERMEISTER MUSIC TOUR - May 28th and 29th with HATEBREED and 3 INCHES OF BLOOD. The 28th show will also feature fellow east coast natives, TYPE O NEGATIVE.

"Needless to say, this may be one of my favorite Jager tours yet!", says drummer Patrick Swift, "HATEBREED are legends of the scene and I've been a fan of TYPE O NEGATIVE since I first picked up drumsticks . . . this one's gonna be trouble!"

"It's always fun to play on a tour that features diverse bands. I've seen Hatebreed and Type O countless times and they both put on great, yet, vastly different shows. I think Powderburn will fit quite nicely, in our own way, among these bands" added singer/guitarist Ken Lockman.

May 28th, the band joins the JAGERMEISTER MUSIC TOUR in San Antonio at Sunset Station, and then makes the journey to El Paso for the show on the 29th at Club 101. POWDERBURN leaves the tour at that point, but will be swinging through Lubbock to play a headlining show on the way home, to be held at the Lone Star Events Center on May 30th.

POWDERBURN RELEASES A NEW SONG FOR FREE!

POWDERBURN RELEASES A NEW SONG FOR FREE

(January 7, 2008 - Austin, TX)

Riding on the heels of the announcement of a new lead guitarist, which opens a new chapter for Texas-based metal band POWDERBURN, comes another that symbolizes the end of an era.

Previous to his departure, former lead guitarist Josh Klayman participated in a writing and recording session with noted local producer Paul Soroski which concluded with four songs recorded at Walrus Studios. As POWDERBURN is on a short hiatus from shows to get Eric Smith ready for the road, the band has decided to release one of the previously-recorded tracks for free. The track is called "One by One".

Vocalist/Guitarist Ken Lockman stated "One by One has a slightly different vibe to it then some of our previous songs. It's still very much Powderburn but we added a little punk rock spice. One thing i can say for sure is that i that i won't be singing this song when i'm 60 years old...not without some serious oxygen tanks."

The song contains Josh's original guitar parts intact as a farewell to a friend, and as a bonus to the fans that have to wait a little longer for POWDERBURN to play in 2008.

The mp3 can be downloaded for free at:

POWDERBURN ANNOUNCES NEW GUITARIST

POWDERBURN ANNOUNCES NEW GUITARIST
(January 2nd, 2008 Austin, Texas)

After several months of reviewing candidates and weighing options, Powderburn is pleased to announce that the search for a new lead guitarist has ended. The band wishes to welcome Eric Smith, a Houston native formerly of Swinging Teresa, Pinhed, and Epic, to the fold and hopes that all our fans and friends will join us in doing the same.

Eric brings a new style and energy to the band, and serious soloist chops as well, and is looking forward to display them at the soon-to-be announced Powderburn comeback show in Austin. When asked to comment, he simply said "Live fast, play loud, and fuckin' SLAYER!". Grammatically challenged as he may be, rest assured the man can seriously rock a guitar.

Powderburn will be taking an undisclosed period of time off from touring and recording to acclimate Eric to the band, and write a series of new songs for an upcoming full-length release. "The writing sessions have already begun", says drummer Patrick Swift, " and I cannot believe how ridiculously well the new songs are coming out. We're getting heavier and faster - we just needed some new blood to get things heavy again!"

Be sure to check back to www.powderburn.net often for the announcement of the band's comeback show, and for everything you ever wanted to know about Eric. A bio page and a link to his MySpace will be added to the site in due course. The band will also soon be releasing a new song in an internet-only form from the last recording sessions with Josh Klayman. As soon as the technical end is sorted out, Powderburn will be announcing the release of "One By One" on the website. Stay tuned. . . .
